21 August 2021
Reading time: 1 minute

Hello everyone and thanks for joining us. Today we will be discussing how the doctors’ strike is affecting patients during the third wave of COVID-19. Doctors in Nigeria embarked on an indefinite strike on the 2nd of August to compel the government to improve their working conditions.

The strike is happening just as the country is struggling to contain the third wave of the COVID-19, as well as the outbreak of cholera and the rise in malaria cases.

Our guests are:

  • Dr Abubakar Kaka Sanda, the president of the Borno State chapter of the National Association of Resident Doctors;
  • Dr Musa Abba Shuwa, the facility manager of the International Humanitarian Community Isolation and Treatment Centre; and
  • Dr Babagana Abiso, the director of disease control at the Borno State Primary Health Care Development Agency and a member of the Borno State COVID-19 task force.
