Brief – Eight people were killed and a church, houses and properties were torched in an attack by insurgents in Kautikari, a village in the Chibok Local Government Area, on Tuesday, May 3.

A resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told RNI reporter Alkali Mustapha that the insurgents stormed the town on Tuesday evening. They arrived in three vehicles and many motorbikes. They were shooting haphazardly.

“The insurgents attacked after the Maghrib prayer. They shot dead eight residents. A church and several houses and properties were torched. When troops and Civilian Joint Task Force members arrived, the insurgents had already left.”

He said calm had returned but residents were still fearful and expressed their despair about the persistent attacks.
