Fear as farmers go missing

The families of farmers in Damboa say they are worried sick because their men have gone missing.

Mai Kodobe said his brother had left home to go to his farm 13 days ago. But he has not returned. He said they had searched for him for more than a week.

Kodobe said he had reported the matter to the Civilian Joint Task Force, but they did not know where his missing brother was. He said his brother was hardworking. He described him as a man who was determined to establish himself economically and educationally.

“We have given up on him and have been praying for his soul.”

Maryam Habu, an internally displaced person who lives in Damboa, said her husband left home two weeks ago but had not returned home. She said he husband had gone to his farm to harvest crops.

She said she and her family members had reported his disappearance to the Askira and Damboa local government areas, begging them to help her search for her husband.

Zannah Alhaji Yahaya, the secretary of the Civilian Joint Task Force in Damboa, said that he was aware of the missing farmers and was working with the military to try to find them.
